Chestnut Hill Book Festival - July 10-12, 2009

Chestnut Hill is a wonderful piece of Philadelphia that I just love. There are quaint one-of-a-kind shops along a main street (along with some national retailers, too), gorgeous mansions and homes in the Arts and Crafts style, and funky restaurants where you can eat al fresco and people-watch. With the economic woes, some of the stores have abandoned Chestnut Hill, but no matter - it's still a great place to visit.

And next weekend (July 10-12) would be a great time to do so, as it marks the first Chestnut Hill Book Festival. There will be author signings, panel discussions, writer workshops hosted by the literary magazine Philadelphia Stories, children's activities (including storybook characters and a brunch with green eggs and ham on the menu) and more.

Much as I'd love to, I'm not sure if I will be able to attend but hopefully this will be the first of many more. I just love book festivals.

If you're nearby and you go, enjoy ... and make sure you come back here and tell us all about it!

That sounds like a lot of fun. Unfortunately I already have plans all weekend, but otherwise we may have had to make the trip together.

Gosh, I am thinking of you, your children, your memorial service of your own dear kind.

I'm not sure if I'll make it to the book festival. But I loved your promo piece for it.
