We were all off from work and camp on Friday, and spent the day just hanging out. The Dean set up the inflatable pool for the kids. After the week we'd had, I think we all needed a day to just chill. (Plus, there were funerals to attend.)
Our plans on Saturday had been to go to a parade and fireworks, but instead we opted for a visit to our local Zoo. It's a small zoo; you can easily see everything within an hour. Betty is enamored with the zoo's main attraction, a Siberian Tiger, a female named Ashley.
We also got a big kick out of the antics of this Toe-Toed Sloth, who was literally hanging out. He was lazier than we were!
The llama (or is this one of the rheas?) seemed to be chilling out, too. The picture of cool!
And then on the way home, a stop at the farm. I bought carrots, cucumbers, patty pan squash, zucchini, broccoli, brussels sprouts, yellow squash, tomatoes, eggplant, and onion.
We also had local corn on the cob and local portobello mushrooms, which aren't pictured here because we grilled them as our 4th of July dinner. Desserts was fresh strawberries, blueberries, and grapes - also not pictured because we're almost done them. We've been snacking on them throughout the weekend.
Betty also lost a tooth while playing with Boo in the pool. We had no idea this one was loose (she usually informs us of such, with characteristic dramatic flair) and it got knocked out when Boo jostled her somehow. So, the Tooth Fairy interrupted her holiday weekend to make an appearance at our house.
And today, Betty and I went to church while The Dean and Boo stayed home. Afterwards we again hung out by the inflatable pool and I made veggie fajitas and tacos for dinner.
All in all, a very nice and simple weekend. Hope yours was a good one, too!
